The Maltese is susceptible to eye problems and patellar luxation. It is important that when contacting a Maltese breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.

Character: This dog is eager to learn, friendly, and sociable.

Temperment: This dog gets along well with children, other dogs, and any household pets.

Coat: Long white hair and no undercoat.

Care This dog requires quite a bit of grooming, from daily brushing and combing to applying special lotion to remove ugly tear stains. Dead hair should be brushed out, as the Maltese does not shed. Irritating hairs around the eyes need to be removed.

Colour: White

Comments: A very unique dog with upright ears that come close together, a pliable body; supernumerary (extra) toes allowing the dog to grasp with them. Though perhaps a bit obstinate, they make entertaining companions. .
